Rav4 xt3 d-4d 2004 Alarm info please

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just got my Rav4 yesterday and I have no manuals at all for anything and I have no idea how to use/setup a spare key fob as my only fob given is like broken and taped up but I do have a spare un-cut key fob that looks the same in every detail but i have no idea how to set this 1 up or how the alarm works.  Any information would help please.  thank you xxxx

Hi Penny, welcome to TOC 🙂

You should be able to find manuals for your entertainment/satnav if fitted at https://www.toyota-tech.eu/Aim/Aim2.aspx?pubtype=AOM

Sorry, can't help with the rest myself but hopefully some that can will come along.

Afaik there are no manuals for programming the keyfobs.  Toyota expect you to hand the problem to the dealer, but this is not necessary.  Independent car locksmiths can do the job, or you can DIY. You will find the information you need in the links provided here.

Once you have the spare key working you might want to consider buying a new Shell (usually plenty on ebay etc.) for the old & transferring the gubbins over to that. If you don't feel competent to do that then I am sure that your auto locksmith (btw certain Timpsons specialise in car keys) should be able to leaving you in the final position of having 2 working & structurally sound keys.

    1. 1. If you were to consider buying a Hybrid model over 5 years old, would you be worried about the reliability of the Hybrid system?

      • Not really as Hybrid systems are always reliable
      • Not if it had a Manufacturers Warranty on the Hybrid system
      • I would not buy a Hybrid model over 5 years old
