fuel consumption

Hi,

i am a new member and would like to know if anyone experience a problem like i have and how it was or can be resolved.

i bought a new Land Cruiser Amazon 4.2 VX in 1998 HDJ100 series and i was getting around 340/350 miles local driving on a full tank approx 80 liters. about 2 years ago i started to note that the fuel consumption started reducing and now it is around 260/270 miles on a full tank.

can members who may have experienced this sort of fuel problem or can advice what i should do to improve the fuel consumption

Dear iqbal,

Has your vehicle had a brake service /overhaul in the last 2 yrs or so ? 

If not i would have them checked to see if the pads are sticking with rust causing brake drag which will increase your fuel consumption .

Also good quality oil to manufacturers spec with a new oil filter would help if oil is thin and black .

Finally ensure the air filter is clean and not blocked or black ,if it is replace it 

and ensure the tyre pressures are correct as under inflation increases fuel consumption .
