1997 "P" Reg Toyota Camry Petrol 2ltr Automatic for sale, just over 98 thousand miles, cam belt was replaced at 80,000 Two owners, I have owned it and looked after it for17 years and it has never failed an MOT. Runs beautifully and extremely reliable. It has four new alloys and four new tyres and a new Battery and a new front pipe and cat. This car is becoming a rare collectors car and very few are out there. I am loathed to part with it but I haven't the room as I have three other cars and I'm finding it difficult to get in and out of it now I am old and knackered.

Come and see it, if you are interested in clasic cars this is one you would treasure and it wouldn't take much work to get it ready for showing.

Yours for £2300,00

Thanks Elhug, I was starting to think I was here on my own!, Believe me it's an emotional battle trying to part with it But I'm old and knackered and can't get in and out of it like I used to, I bought an Audi Q5 so I can climb into it and fall out of it with ease 🙂 I still have the Carina, I would never part with that as I bought it new in 1984, there are pictures of it on here under my name. The wife uses that now though.

Me again. Hi Bob. Just to let you know, I will be taking your word for her condition and reliability. I live across the pond in Belfast but I have bought several cars in the UK. Never let down. I have sold a few also and delivered them to prove reliability but I wouldn't be asking you for that. Hopefully she will not sell until after Christmas. I will have the money then.

Please do me a big favour. Because I have to travel and pay for ferry tickets, and you will have to take you heart and sentiment out of the equation.

Cheers. Hugh

Someone commented to me that the paintwork looks bad in the above picture showing the passenger side rear wing.

No it's not, look carefully, it's the hedgerow reflecting in the shine. There are other pictures I took a couple of days ago in the link in the post above this where you can see the paintwork better, for a 26 year old car it is awesome.

Well, Bob, if someone was suggesting the paintwork looks bad....... I think they need to make an optician appointment as soon as possible.  It’s very obvious it is reflections.
Can I make a suggestion...... pop along to Wilko (no doubt other stores as well) and buy some Car Plan No 1, cost £8.  Wash and polish the car (looks pretty good as it is), then apply the No 1.   It’s a clear coating that protects the shine for up to 12 months.  I can testify that after 4 months (and counting) water is still running off. No 1 makes washing easier too. One spray bottle of No 1 should do around four cars the size of your Camry, so very cost effective as a little goes a long way.

Hi Joe,

I've always used and sworn by Autoglym, I have used that on the Camry for the 17 years I've owned it, I find a thorough hand polishing with that twice a year and water rolls off in balls each time it's washed, but thanks kindly for the tip I gues many products are similar.

Pst!! wanna buy a Camry?

It’s a lovely car Bob, no doubt about it.  Since 1990, for 27 years I had been a diesel owner, mainly for the economy.  2017 I wanted to move away from diesel on environment grounds, and decided to go Toyota hybrid, first with an Auris, loved it so got a Gen 3 Prius, loved it, so put big money on my current Gen 4 Prius... and I get fantastic mpg.  During summer I can regularly get between 70-92 mpg.   I suspect I could get no where near those figures, so, Bob, I not In a position to buy.
It looks a lovely car, someone is going to buy, have a cracking car, and enjoy it for many years to come.     Joe

Hi Joe

Sounds good to me mate, I nearly bought a hybrid end of last year, but I am still worried about the three year guarantee most give on the batteries and what the cost would be if they failed.I ended up being a traitor and bought an Audi Q5, As I'm old and knackered I can get in and out of that easier. Well! climb into it and fall out of it. Surprisingly in economy mode it costs about the same to run as the Camry and gives me a good 30 to the gallon, but I don't do a lot of motoring hence the low miles on the Camry.

I put it on here as I thought there may be a collector or someone who might want to detail it and show it, but no one is actually getting excited about it. With the new wheels, tyres, exhaust and cat and disks and brakes, Battery and media centre I have spent around what I am asking for it on it, so the car is virtually free.

Bob, 3 year warranty sounds as if the manufacturer does not have faith in their own batteries.   Did you not look at Toyota hybrids?  Hybrid Battery warranty was 8 years/100,000 miles, but from 2020 year models been increased to 10 years/150,000 miles.  A brilliant warranty.   And the prices are now tumbling, complete Battery now around £1200 (depends on model), but individual cells can be replaced at much lower cost obviously.

Re your Camry, are there any specialised sites/magazines for selling pristine older vehicles?

Hi Joe,

Wow! no I wasn't looking at anything in particular I was just searching and asking on the net last year,  How long have Toyota been giving eight years?warranty? however a warranty is not a guarantee and usually involves deviousness.

Yes I have a few other places in mind to advertise my Camry but as I said I thought I would give this site the first option, I'm in no hurry and will probably take further action after Christmas.
