Firstly I am grateful for the help I have received on here.

I replaced the DPF and a sensor at some cost.

I am used to white smoke on regeneration. I am not getting that now though it does smell. Is this because the unit is new?

Regatds

Probably yes. Ideally you shouldn't see any smoke at all, our 2012 never produces any that I've noticed.

Was your car reprogrammed after replacing the the DPF? As there is a logic built into the ECU to consider mileage and usage of the car and how/hen it needs to regen the used DPF if the new DPF has been fitted and the ECU not "told" then its will continue to treat the new DPF as an old one and try and regen too often which will quickly destroy the new DPF.

In Toyota parlance you need too perform: CATALYST RECORD OF DPF THERMAL DETERIORATION CLEAR FUNCTION
