i`m thinkin of getting forged pistons and a metal headgasket to get the most out of my new turbo.

question is how much would it cost me ...roughly... to just get these items fitted?

am i looking at thousands rather than hundreds?

There's a guy on IMOC just put a post up about engine mods here's his list

Con-Rod £80

Con-Rod Bearing set £60

New Crankshaft £400

Crankshaft bearing set £68

Crankshaft Thrust Bearing £8

Full Engine gasket set £170

1.6mm HKS head gasket £150

HKS forged piston set £660

Machining Process £170

Engine oil + Antifreeze £23

Fuel filter + Oil filter £9

Labour £750

As you can see he reckons £660 just for the piston set, so I think you'll be lucky if you can get it done for under a grand.

ive seen some Eagle forged pistons for £300ish inc delivery from the us. so thats what i`ll b going for, either them or the je pistons which are £400.

Is that 750 for labour fitting all those parts listed???

i can recomend JE's as i had these in mine. even though it suffered two rods letting go the pistons (altough a bit battered) were still in one piece.

its not really just pistons as you will have to strip the engine to fit them you may as well carry out a rebuild at the same time. new crank bearings, oil pump, gaskets, seals etc. if your doing the work your self you should do it just under a grand (depending on any machining work that req doing), but if your having it done then look at nearer two grand.

cheers

I`ve had a slight, rethink about what i`m doing to my engine.

I`m fitting the new turbo and IC, then im going to fit the uprated walbro fuel pump...then get it set up with a unichip on the standard injectors and see how far they can take me, maybe run at 17psi..not to sure on this yet, depends how brave im feeling lol.

But neways, I`ll see what power im gettin with the new turbo etc and then see if i need the larger injectors/pistons etc etc, as I may be happy without them.

Could save myself some big bucks....which can go on styling :D

not sure what rev 2 you have but a stock rev3 piston is only good for about 1.2bar then its ringlands that are likly to fail (yes ive done this before too :( )
