T25 Headlamp bulbs?

I have Osram Nightbreakers that seemed a bit better than the original factory fitted bulbs but are still not up modern standards. On reflection any new bulb would probably have been better than an 8 year old bulb! The Optiwhite bulbs claim 60% more light. Are these really  any better than the Nightbreakers and what about the Philips or other bulbs. So what to buy to get an improvement?

Thanks for reply, the dip beam, the main consideration is H7.

Have a look at the Auto Express headlight bulb test - H4's tested but should be broadly comparable with H7's:

One thing to bear in mind is that with halogen bulbs, the greater the output, the shorter the life.

The Osram and Philips bulbs are around £20 a pair on Amazon.

Are there any LED bulbs that can replace the halogens? I've seen some Chinese ones, but they kinda look crap.
