Toyota avensis 03hatchback slapping sound when in gear

 My toyota avensis 03 makes a Slapping sound but only wen in gears,, anyone have any ideas?? Thanks

I've noticed the same thing on my 2006, when I arm a gear (especially in the 1st and 2nd)

Got a 03toyota avensis hatchback never let me dwn but lately theirs a flapping noise coming frm gearbox way, as it only doz it when I put it into gear, it's not tht loud n car still drives OK,, any ideas plz, been told it cud b??? Coil pack stick?? Oil in gearbox??? Sparkplug?? Ect ect ect
