Diesel Avensis Cranks but Doesn’t Start

Hello

I have a Toyota Avensis D4D 2007. The car cranks but won’t start.

It has a broken glow plug but I was told by mechanics that three new glow plugs should be enough. Once the engine starts and works for a few minutes to warm up a little bit and if I turn off the engine and try to start it again it will start without problem. There is a lot of blue-white smoke on the cold start and that makes me think it’s the glow plug.

Another strange thing is when I accelerate to over 3000 rpm the car lose power and I have to turn off the engine and wait for a few seconds before I start it again to bring it back to normal.

The car had the same symptoms in the summer which makes me confused. Does the car need glow plugs when the weather is warm? It only started easy once when the temperature was over 25 degree C but again with a lot of blue and white smoke
