2012 Toyota Yaris , USB Port not working

I've a 2012 Yaris with Touch and Go (I believe the  head unit is 86140-0d020) . I was going to  update  the maps , but  I can't get the USB in the glove compartment to work .

I've tried fat32/exfat  and NTFS formatted USBs . Reading other forums, I think the USB port may simply not be wired correctly  .

What would be involved in checking if the USB port is wired correctly  ?. If it was a big job involving removing the head unit ,  I can live without up-to-date maps....

Seeing the age, maybe there is a size limitation on the headunit side, and the flash drive you are using has too big capacity.

Have you tried with for example 4gb flash drive, or reducing your partition size to under 4gb (in case for example 32gb drive) ?

It will only accept the correct firmware for your radio - you have to pay for map updates, it needs to be formatted in fat32

you need to check the what firmware you have in the hidden service menu

does the usb read/play a stick with mp3's on it ?
