DVD/CD Refusing Disks

It started with the unit not ejecting the disks fully. We’d have to use eject a few times, and hope enough disk would present itself to grab hold of, before it went back inside and played from the start. 
 

Now the unit won’t accept disks, either ejects them, or they go in, don’t play, and we have to eject it. 
 

Anybody encountered this? Got suggestions for a fix?
