Catloc? are they worth it?

A Catloc, or similar plate, is just a deterrent, not a promise. A wire cage will be a bigger deterrent, more challenging.  Of course, out of frustration, a thief could easy cause more damage to a door panel.

I think he had cat stolen twice but only once with a catloc.

That was Toyota in Lincolnshire, never charged for fault diagnosis , even other make cars, whereas Toyota Sidcup charges even to look at any fault, not sure why that stark difference

First no catloc, replaced by insurance at repair centre, we got catloc fitted for £250at Toyota. After 9 months stolen with catloc, then got insurance to fit catalytic converter and then they took to Toyota dealer and fitted catloc

Now parking inside compound with gate

i suggested security bolts some time back, shear bolts/nuts may be an option or even triple square or security torx (centre pin)

even drilling the bold heads a lock wiring them would be an option

Edit. Just had a really simple idea, just put a big gob of weld on the head of the bolt(s) (on the side face)

So I tried this;

Works very well. they really have to crawl under there now and use some propper wirecutters before they can unbolt it.

Atleast it will delay them a bit. hopefully it will put them off.

It's a standard bolt with a hole drilled in it

Install a catlock with real high grade steel.  It is important because UK catalytic converter theft is still high.

Edit to my earlier post:

I have checked an old email from a Toyota dealer; the Toyota security bolt covers for the exhaust manifold bolts are not called TGBNGA - BOLT B, they're called

TGBNGA - BOLT C

My mistake!

Gerg,

How many of those "TGBNGA BOLT C" units do I need to ask the dealership to order - to fit?

Is it just two bolts - or are there more bolts that would need them?

Putting an order in - might as well get it right first time.

Just the two bolts that need protecting.

There are other identical bolts further along the exhaust system, but they are left untouched by thieves.
