Shift Light Versoo 1.6

Hello,

Can someone help me please?

I have a shift light on the dashboard that is  permanently on in my car that I've just bought. I called Toyota Care who told me the light should not be on all the time.

I was advised to book the car into a dealer as it's still under the 5 year warranty. I left the car at the dealer and they've told me the light should stay on all the time. 

Can someone advise me as to whether this light should remain on or should it go off and only come on when I need to change the gears please?

The shift light stays on, but when it's time to shift up, a led above it will appear, same as downshifting.
