Hi guys I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice on the Toyota auris is petrol or diesel best ?, and do they have many problems I'm only looking 08 or 09 just to take me to work and back, Im asking because the avensis 05 09 was a bad engine I had one so I know.So would you recommend one or stay clear thanks for any replies

petrol better in my opinion

watch for boot leaks and water pump failure

Petrol 1.6 would be best, plenty of hp, and no issues with oil burning like on 1.33.

I would go with mid 2009 or later, since they have 6 speed gearbox.

As said above, open the boot, and take the spare tire out, inspect the bodywork, plenty of issues with water leaking to the boot area and staying there, causing rust.

Consumption is not so bad, i would get 47 mpg on rural roads with ac on, 42-45 mpg in the city.
