For those that have Carplay & Android Auto

Do you still need to have your mobile device paired via bluetooth (for music+calls) or will it work the same as the bluetooth connection but via the USB only?

Don't have it in RAV4 yet, but in SEAT AA needed the cable and BT, Apple only needed the cable and music sounded much better

Yes you need to pair the bluetooth for calls, music can be via BT or USB and if you want full functionality including OTA updates from the head unit you also need to share a data connection via either BT tethering or wifi hotspot

As above, you can just plug in for CarPlay, I have paired mine with bluetooth too so I don’t have to plug in all the time, useful for short trips.
