Recommended Posts

today my partner had an issue with the ABS system

she had ABS,VSC & handbrake lights all on

i retrieved the code C1246 is this a common error code,

has anyone else had this code and what work needed to be carried out

after reseting the code the car has driven perfectly.

Should be DTC C1246 / 46 Master Cylinder Pressure Sensor Malfunction

I presume brakes work fine? Check if the lights turn on, and the Oil level.

yes the brakes work fine after resetting the fault code, the brake lights come on

and the brake fluid Oil level is ok

i quickly used carista and i was only given the C1246 part

i should of used the tech stream to find the exact code

so we will have to wait and see if it comes on again

C codes are manufacturer specific imho its an electrical fault with the abs - given the weather lately its likely water ingress into a connector

is the sensor changeable or is it part of a larger unit like the brake booster

Since you said you have Techstream, you can try to do the check yourself.it

I dont know if the sensor is part of it, sadly the manual just says replace the whole part.

The sensor should be builtin into the device, you might be able to change it, if you are lucky enough to find it that is.

Check this video for a rought idea how it looks inside, i dont know if it's similar to the Toyota one, but on first glance they look somewhat similar from outside, so i suspect the inside might be similar aswell  https://youtu.be/rtuSNSeUvGY?t=211Here is the link from where i got the info, it should be applicable to your car https://corolla-club.ru/doc2/rm04f1ru/repair2/html/frame_rm000000xig012x.html

Hi Dean and thank-you for your help

i contacted a hybrid specialist to get a price for the repair

and they didnt get back in touch with me

so at the weekend i looked for another car and today i collected

a 66 plate auris hydrid for kath and she actually likes it,

the 1st time kath saw the car was this afternoon when i came home in it.

i wanted peace of mind that kath and mainly the kids ( i love the kids) would be safe
