Toyota Verso S Engine Temperature Warning Light

Toyota Verso S 2009 1.8 petrol engine Engine Temperature Warning Light in the dashboard is red instead of blue.

Went to the toyota dealer and they said to replace the exhaust, because the catalyst would be not working correctly. Cost of this should be 2000 euro.

Well that would be weird, so i went to my local garage:

Looked for any fault with OBD, none were there. Then coolant level, fan operation, coolant leaks, pressure build up in the rubber hose of the coolant and everything was fine.

This problem first happend during a drive an the german freeway and it was raining.

Well hoping someone had this before and knows how to solve this problem.

Thanks to everyone for reading and helping in advance.

Kind regards,

Dave.

Think you have a Verso, not a Verso S, as the Verso S was never produced in 1.8 form.
