Purple Dotted Line on Sat Nav

Does anyone know what the purple dotted line is on my sat nav, and how do i get rid of it.

Off the top of my head, I think it indicates traffic congestion...

hi, Navigation Manual Page 96 3-5 Setup 

 “Save recent route”
Select to display a trail of breadcrumbs on the map.

It is one of the toggle options on the Setup Menu / Navigiation. Toggle Save Recent Route to Off

I want to know where I'm going, not where I've been. Now turned off.
