Corolla cat. question

Having had the cat stolen from my Gen. 2 Auris recently I was wondering as to the positioning on the Corolla. One dealer told me it was underneath similar to the Auris. Another told me it’s by the engine block as on the Yaris ie almost inaccessible to thieves. Any definitive answer would help me decide my next step as I don’t want a repetition of this.

To get a more definite answer, contact Toyota Customer Relations -

https://www.toyota.co.uk/contact-us/

Aside from that, the more recent cats have lower levels of the precious metals which are attracting thefts.

Toyota Croydon wrote me that my catalytic converter on my Corolla Touring Sport Estate 1.8 Hybrid is  "right up in the engine bay and therefore not easy to steal on your model, so to date, Toyota (GB) have not informed us of a catloc device designed to fit your Corolla."   Hope that's helpful to Someone.

I"m still having a tilt sensor added to my Corolla's alarm  by a specialist firm (Toyota don't do it & they told me it wouldn't invalidate the 5yr electrical warranty unless it could be proven that this installation caused a specific problem).

I have been reliably informed that a Catloc for the Corolla is shortly to be signed off by Toyota (I expect Covid19 will impose a delay to this)

I believe this to be so as I have been given the part #

that's very helpful. Clearly there are mixed messages being sent out over Corolla. I imagine the catloc in the corolla and the corolla estate would be in the situated in the same place? ie. right up in the engine bay?

Don’t know about mixed messages. I am told that it has been moved to closer to the engine block in a more out of the way location. The Catloc will just provide an addition layer of protection.

I think the Prius 4 is in a similar location making it less easily accessible

i just don't think that certain dealerships are up to date. Thanks for your information. I think i'll wait for that specific catloc to be made available, rather than try to fit a generic one. And also park the front of my corolla against the wall. Thanks again. If you're able to send me the part number i'd be grateful. Take care.
