Corolla Hybrid 12v Battery Question

Now that many of us may not be driving on a regular basis due to the coronavirus, my question is how long could you safely leave the vehicle parked up before problems may arise due to the small 12v Battery losing it's charge and thereby not able to start the vehicle? I see that there are instructions in the manual if this should happen but I'm thinking would it be better to occasionally go for a short drive to keep the little 12v Battery healthy. But over what distance and how frequent?  I seem to remember there was a problem with the first run of Auris hybrids where people were leaving their vehicles in airport car parks for a 2 weeks holiday abroad and finding on return the 12v Battery had gone flat. I believe the fault was later discovered to be a fault in the hazzard  warning switch circuitry draining the power down. Any comments most welcome.

I've pondered this and the hybrid Battery. My daily commute of 45miles a day has gone to about zero!

Some members use a solar trickle charger to keep the 12v topped up.

Hi everyone,

yes good tips from Toyota. Battery can last for around 3-4 weeks before any significant voltage drain happened but you don’t want to leave it that long if possible.

Once a week set the car in ready mode with all accessories off let it stay ON for at least 30-40min and will have no trouble. The longer the car been out of use the longer you have to keep in ready mode, 1 week- 30 min , 2 weeks-60min, 3 weeks -90 min or take the car for an hour motorway trip.

Before you leave your car unused remember to switch off all auto interior lights especially If you staying in the house and there is a possibility you are walking outside around the car and you have your car key in pocket, because every time you walk next to the car will detect the key  proximity and turn on the interior lights, not a big deal but repeatedly happens may accelerate Battery drain.
Regards
