Sounds like the regulator and/or motor has gone bad, If it has been used much the rubbers around the glass go sticky and grab hold of the glass, but from what you are saying it gone beyond that point now

it may be worth cleaning the rubbers inside and out (hot soapy water) and try to get some lube in the tracks

What type of lube would you recommend in the track's Bob. Having same trouble with the Rav.

Something with Teflon or PTFE - GT-85

i have used a silicone spray in the past but it can smear up the glass

Sound's like the window regulator to me, which would have little teeth on it and they would get worn off. this being the problem removal of the door car also the plastic behind the door card, and from what I remember when doing it on an old avensis or carina I owned removal of the motor and regulator and separating the two and replacing the regulator. Long time since I did it so just not 100%. But not to hard to do. if u can get the door card and plastic off and try and look at the regulator to see if the teeth are stripped on it. I imagine that is ur problem, the motor turning but the teeth on the regulator not able to grip. YOUTUBE IT MAYBE.

  • 2 weeks later...

well i purchased the regulator from europarts

and took it to my local mechanic to fit

the one that came off the car is nothing remotely like the one from europarts

there was only a choice of 2 on there website

looking on other sites they all seem to be like the one from europarts

so im stuck really

here is a pic

one that came off the car (top)

and one from europarts. (bottom)
