Ecu's rarely need replacing - poor diagnostics - unless it has been proven there is an actual fault with it

What codes or issues does it have ? Has the Ecu had an update done ?

A new ecu will need programming to the car your best off getting the part numbers off the ecu - according to the epc it should be 89661-6A170

It was a JDM Spec car

thanks for those replies, the car had been checked by a toyota dealer, let me chase up the report from them, but the main issue was fuel consumption had gone up averaging abt 100km/full tank and u could smell the rich fuel exhausts. have also noticed that te same engine was used on the GRANVIA,  TUNDRA AND TOCUMA.

someone had also suggested that if we get a new ecu it will need programming together with the key, key reader and immobliser

thanks again for the replies

i would check the injectors with a multimeter for resistance if one did go bad it may have fried the injector drivers in the ecu but that is very slim

a bad coil or spark plug could cause the same symptoms - do you know if there are any misfire codes if so look at the misfire monitors to determine what cylinder it is
