In Denmark there's much talking about the new Ford Kuga Phev. Many claims that Ford uses Toyotas e-CVT gearboxes.

Is that true?

According to media reports the Kuga shares it's mechanicals with the Focus/Mondeo. Would have thought the hybrid transmission would be similar to the Ford transmission in the Mondeo hybrid.

This video (30 minutes long - it's very thorough!) shows an earlier Ford e-cvt from the US, which was made by Aisin for them.  There's a lot of similarities with the Toyota unit, but when ford seem to have significant history of making and selling hybrids in the US, why would they use actual Toyota boxes?

Perhaps whoever made that statement in the OP's post meant  "Ford uses Toyota-style e-CVT gearboxes" !

When the Mondeo hybrid was launched in the UK, several of the road tests reported that the car had a rear-mounted drive motor and batteries driving the rear wheels.  Interesting that this major error was featured in so many tests.  Is the OP's question about another press-brief-type misunderstanding, I wonder?

The only other manufacturers to use versions of Toyota's hybrid synergy drive under licence were Nissan (Nissan Altima hybrid 2007-2011) and Mazda (Mazda 3 hybrid).

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV uses a GKN transmission.

A few years back (2010?) there was a legal claim against Toyota as to who owned some of the rights to the 'Toyota-type' hybrid design.

This was the company making the claim:  http://www.paicehybrid.com/

Looking at their website (above) might explain who won that court case, and a bit more besides.

I think this is the key part...

"The parties agree that, although certain Toyota vehicles have been found to be equivalent to a Paice patent, Toyota invented, designed and developed the Prius and Toyota’s hybrid technology independent of any inventions of Dr. Severinsky and Paice as part of Toyota’s long history of innovation."

There's probably only so many ways you can design the hybrid system, hence why they are all similar!
