jackrmee 0
Hi guys, I’m helping a guy to find parts for his 1974 Corona 2l auto saloon. He needs a brake master cylinder and our usual place (Rockauto.com) are out of stock. Thing is, everywhere I search require the vin number. Found the vin number on the registration document and also on the vehicle, but the places say it should be 17 digits long. Neither are 17 digits. The number on the paperwork is RX12908053 (as it is on the vehicle), but the engine plate has “HD” after the model. Can anyone help in which number is correct please? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
flash22 656
In japan they use a frame number, due to its age it may not be on any data bases, but i will have a look
FROSTYBALLS 3,425
The 17 digit format was adopted from 1981, so a 1974 model wouldn't necessarily follow that format.
flash22 656
After a bit of digging A RX12 would have been sold under the Toyopet brand in Japan, the nearest equivalent would be the 73-79 corona RT10 edit. Booster or non booster, single or twin outlet ?

Maybe I’m doing something wrong.ps. We got a few parts that were difficult to source in uk, from rockauto and have used it ever since, as they are reasonably priced and have never failed to have the part we need until now. Cut out a lot of searching and digging haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jackrmee 0
Just checking the 2 oem parts now... 04493-20010 seems like the one. It says mkII (RX22). 04493-20070 says RT104 and has different parts and seals included. How can I find the correct one? Is it a case of the mechanic taking it apart and seeing what seals are involved?

Where would I find a specialist? I thought a classic car garage would be specialists. Or do you mean a dedicated TOyota classic car garage? Thing is, the car is already at the garage and the cylinder is in bits I think
