2001 Celica TSport Standard Alloys

Good evening all,

I'm new here. I have a 2001 Toyota celica 1.8 vvtli (190). It's time to get some new tyres. My celica has standard alloys, 205/50 R16, are these the correct alloys for the T sport? The reason I'm asking because I have searched for tyres at Kwik fit, Halfords, National, Asda and Blackcircles and they all state one option for my car which is 215/45 R17.

Any help/feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sid. Yes they are the correct standard alloys, 215/45/17 is not standard for them. They are a bit of an oddball size when it comes to getting tires though, I found not everyone stocked that size. 215/45/17 is not standard for them.

Myself and a few mates use them regularly in the past, delivery is agreeable and I'd definitely recommend them.

Some tire centres might huff and puff that you need them fitted but didn't buy off them, but then they should have stocked that size if they were that worried!

I never paid above 20 odd quid to get 4 tires fitted by a tire centre that I supplied myself, I'd walk away if anyone looks for much more. 

I've done some googling and had my memory refreshed of the alloys you've been told are standard. An optional extra I'd imagine.

Yes 215/45R17 is correct as I owned a 190 for 11 years and I fitted Toyo R1 s  I hope you find this helpful .

The 205/50R16 s are intended for the Celica140bhp and the  215/45R17s for the 190/T sport I hope you find this helpful .

Just to clear this up. The correct tyre size for both the 140, and the 190, is 205/50/16. Both came with exactly the same five spoke rims as standard.

The correct size for the T Sport is not 215/45, but 205/45/17.
