Corolla verso ECU found one Avensis

Hi everyone is there any reason that you guys can think of why a 2005 corolla verso ECU was found in my 2008 2.0 d4d t3x avensis went to take out ECU today to get it remapped but my friend said it’s a verso ECU from a 2005 verso and that he couldn’t do it 

Were faulty ECUs a thing on avensis ?

Was it changed with an engine?

or was it as a result of loss of the keys of the vehicle I don’t get why there’s an 05 verso ECU in it

I will be interested in the answers to this. I had lots of problems with ECUs on Vauxhall Carltons and Omegas so I feel your pain. I have had several Toyotas and no signs of any problems with ECUs or actually read about problems on the Forum. Good luck getting it sorted.

I'd be interested as to how he determined the ECU was from a Verso as they do not have names on them only part numbers, did he note the part number ?

Yes he specialises in mapping and cloning Toyota ECUS and he looks up part numbers before remapping to verify them and it’s a corolla verso I checked my car and it’s reg it’s not stolen so either the original owners lost both keys n got a corolla verso ecu or the original avensis one failed at some point it’s funny tho as the car is fine with the verso one my mate is very good with ECUs as he works with VEIZU and he said just get an original avensis one and he will clone it and then map it
