Hi, Im wondering if anyone has fitted a Celica gen4 3sge engine into a gen5 Celica & what problems were encountered.I know that the inlet manifold & plenum chambers may be different but Ive also seen gen5 models with the same inlet manifold assembly as gen4,just take a look at the cover of a Haynes Celica manual.:bookworm:

Also mine is automatic, possibly change to 5spd manual.

Any advice very appreciated folks!

Mainly because the engine is worn out & smokey.Ive already stripped down the cyl head rebuilt ,overhauled all the injectors, inj system.Still no good!

I have a gen 4 with a cracking good engine but tatty bodywork as a doner.

It is also automatic convertible and at the best of times it drives like a slug.

My normal A to B car is a gen5 Cel 5spd manual which drives superb & quick in comparison to the drophead so hence the plan to convert the gearbox.

Anyway I already started the job,so hopefully before the next millenium I might be finished! :D
