Gen 6 suspension knock

I have searched through forums all morning and cannot find the answer. I bought a gen 6 last week that was lying up for a couple of years, its non super strut and sitting on lowered springs, looks like 40mm drop. it has a horrible knocking/creaking when turning or going over bumps, also the drivers side is lower than the passenger side. Do i need to order shocks or struts replacements? big difference on the cost.
