Tapping sound from the back of the engine

Hi all, it's me again 2009 2.0 CVT

I have realized a little tapping sound from the back of the engine (back is if you are standing in front of the car 😊). If the rev is around 1000 rpm I can hear it just a little bit louder. The car isn't shaking or something like that it is just noisier than normal I think.

Anyone had this issue before?

Thanks

First thing I want to ask, Why are you running the engine with the oil cap off? I can see the oil being splashed. Run the engine with the oil cap tightly secured. Is the noise present then? Remember this engine has dual VVTi, that acts on both inlet and exhaust cams. You can remove the engine cover.

I know...please don't blame me. After the video I realized...I saw on a toyota forum...I will never ever do this again!

I will make a video with the cover off and I post another one. You maybe will hear as well what I think is abnormal tapping coming from the back of the engine.

When you say the back of the engine, do you mean the side of the engine?

The water pump is at the front and the flywheel is at the back.

You are standing in front of the car and the nose seems to come from behind the engine, kind of under the windshield area

That is actually the left hand side of the engine.
