Adding Sat Nav option?

Hi All,

I have a 2013 RAV4 with DAB/FM radio, CD player, Reversing camera, bluetooth etc., but the Sat Nav option was not fitted when new.  Is it possible to 'retro-fit' a Sat Nav module to the head unit and where might I get one?

I know I could buy a Tom-Tom navigator or similar, but it would be nice to have it integrated in the head unit as original.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

All the best...

From what I've read you are seemingly better off with a Tom Tom or similar.

I don't think the Toyota satnav is that highly regarded....we do have it on my wife's new Yaris but I've noticed a couple of times she's gone back to her Tom Tom.

My 62 reg mk3 RAV4 with 1st gen Touch & Go also didn't have sat nav installed when I looked at it. It was sold by main dealer so I enquired about the cost of installation and was initially quoted £720 for the installation of the unit. After about half an hour of haggling I managed to get the price down significantly though 😜 Using it all the time and quite happy with it pretty much on par with TomTom and Google maps.

The old system is really showing its age now. My tuppence of advice would be to invest in a decent after market head unit with CarPlay and call it a day.

I find this an elegant solution for a TomTom device, connected to the Rav's internal power. Even the TomTom 6" display does not obstruct anything on this Brodit clip with Active holder.

At least, until I can test Apple Carplay, and maybe even "indefinitely" thereafter.
