Dipped my 2007 1.4 4zz Fe vvti Toyota today and found the dipstick has metal flakes on it in the oil.

I would like to keep the car, the head has a small tapping in it me machanic said its ok.

 

Any ideas about metal in oil, thank you.

Also want to note when I bought the car 8 months ago I seen this metal flakes in oil before it was fully serviced car has now done 12k. Could it be something in head or something to do with timing chain.

Further investigation would need the sump to be removed and see if there is any metal shavings at bottom of the sump and check condition of bearings.

you can have oil samples sent to a lab and they will tell you where the metal has come from
