Tyre Pressure Warning Reset Switch

My wife was using the car the other day, when she phoned me about the tyre pressure waring light coming on. Told her that the tyres had been checked recently and on her inspection of all four wheels there did not appear to be any problem. She called in to the nearest tyre place who checked and confirmed all were at correct pressure.

What I told her  was to use a make-up mirror to view the underside of the dashboard under the steering wheel (LHD) and look for the round white button. After pressing this and holding while the warning light flashed 3 times she was on her way.

What I am really commenting on was how difficult she and the tyre shop had in locating the Tyre Pressure Warning Reset Switch, why has Toyota made this switch so difficult to locate if you haven't located it previously. The manual is very imprecise about its location. Where is located in other Toyota models?

Varies. in the Aygo it is in the glovebox.

On the yaris its under the dash near the pedals, possibly the same on lhd cars, not an issue tbh as you rarely need to access it - the tyre place not knowing is just one of those things, they probably see 100's of cars a week a small percentage will have tpms issues and remembering every detail of every car is impossible

on mine, it's a black button with Reset in White text

My warning light came on yesterday. Not the easiest place to put the reset button, not clear where it is in the handbook.

It would be nice if the display showed which tyre it was and reset itself when the pressure is back to normal. Dare I say that many other cars have that facility. And cost less.

Lol, in recent years all car makes designers or whoever is in charge seems does not understand how these machines works and how people use them, I can imagine some of those aren’t even a drivers, sorry but the job they do worth nothing despite been paid crazy money. , or perhaps there is a race between the design teams how to make an ugly and unusable car design for both interior and exterior., they need to go back to the design of 80s like Ford Escort mк3 and Golf 2 where the cars were made simple and useful. What would have cost them to locate the switch next to the steering wheel where is the usual place for the extras. , and mark it with an icon, or in the car settings in the main screen, like Tesla. 👍

Somewhere in this forum I have written a tutorial on how to reset the tyre pressure warning in a 2016 Toyota Yaris.

One thing to mention: I have a set of summer wheels and a set of summer wheels. The wheels I do not use are stored with my tyre dealer, I don't exchange them myself, this is done by the dealer.

In spring, I got my summer wheels mounted, and one day later, I had a tyre pressure warning. So first I panicked, then I checked the pressure and found everything okay. Then I reset the system and did not see the warning light again.

Last week, I dropped my car at the tyre dealership and asked for mounting my winter wheels. And I asked them to reset the tyre pressure warning thing properly. The lady at the desk replied: "Yes, we know this problem. We never forget to reset the tyre pressure warning system. But often this has to be repeated once, maybe even twice." Later, I took my car, and the light was off. The next day, the light went on again, so I had to reset the system.

I do not know why, but this seems to be a common bug.
