Hi

I'm a newbie so please be gentle.

I have a Carina E 1.8 SE 1996, but can't find any info on this version in this trim. I've looked in all the normal places, Wikipedia and Toyota history, but neither mention my model. Can you help me in my quest.

Thanks

Pretty sure the SE was a run out model produced 1996-1997.

The UK has its own specs, the epc says that year for UK production is GL and XL (poss euro specs), Jap built ones also have the GT

Drop me a PM with the vin and i will look it up

Frostyballs, very painful.

Thanks for reply, what do you mean by run out model? What does SE stand for? Mine's  a R 1997  1.8 auto with snow and overdrive functions and spoiler on back. First registered in November 97 so must be one of the last ones. In garage at mo water pump first thing to go wrong with it. Done 72000 miles . Can't seem to find another one .

Where a model is nearing the end of production, some manufacturers, including Toyota, have sometimes offered versions with increased specs and offering better value, to ensure that supplies run out by the time the replacement goes on sale.

For example, Toyota did this in the UK with the 2002-2007 Corolla and the 2007-2012 Auris. Both run out trims were called Colour Collection, and both provided increased specs at attractive prices.

At one time SE stood for special equipment - not sure it stands for anything nowadays.

SE - Sports Executive

SE - Some Extras

SE - Special Edition <<<<< more than likely this one as its end of run

SE - Special Equipment
