It should be around 90ºc when fully warm, if it doesn't reach temp the stat is stuck open, if it gets to 120ºc its stuck closed, the rad is clogged, has trapped air or the fans are not working

The Stat should open around 84-86ºc, tho the 1KR does run cooler than most

If it hasn't been done a coolant flush is in order

Hi, thanks for your replies, am looking to fit a water temp gauge and want to know on these cars what it reaches at what point etc, have connected the water temp gauge to the sensor on the block and the reading i got is in this picture attached, does it look correct?

Cheers. J

Since the gauge is showing 90 it looks right to me.

I've got a similar analogue water temp gauge and mine shows about 90c, so looks fine to me.

90 is the middle of most gauges you can check the temp via obd2 as the ecu requires it
