A replacement key for a 2010 Auris

I have 2 keys .One is the main key and the other just opens the door.

I want to get a second main key but cannot find the "key number plate" which the manual tells me I need for this purpose.

What can I do? Does the Vehicle identification Number allow me to get a new key made?

Is it cheaper to get this done through a Toyota dealer or can any garage do it?

Can I even order a blank key and programme it myself? (can that be risky?)

The key number would have been on a small metal tag originally attached to the keyring. A new key from a Toyota dealer will cost £150+ including programming (similar costs for other manufacturers). You can also get a key cut from an auto locksmith or somewhere like Timpsons.

Thanks. No,never saw that plate. But are you saying that I can get a new key regardless?

Does that (lost)  plate just speed up the process somehow?

It's a tiny black plate with embossed numbers, helps if you get the keys from the dealer.

You can go to some local shop, and get the keys done there, they will just clone the one you have, and it's cheaper.
