Apple car play

Hi, my 2020 RAV has Apple car play as standard. I wanted to use Google maps for a road trip and it worked fine. That was the only occasion I’ve used it. I had my iPhone connected with a cable for the trip.

My question is can you bluetooth your phone instead of having it connected by cable ? I realise that the cable will keep the phone charged and the connection will be more stable. But was wondering if the bluetooth connection was an option.

Thanks Steve

Wireless ACP and AA is not supported. You can BT your phone to the car, but it will only be for calls really. You can hear the maps instruction from the phone over BT connections, but ACP will not be on the headunit screen. There is a 3rd party wireless dongle available for ACP over BT, was mentioned in Corolla forum.
