My 2010 Yaris 1.3 has never had the coolant changed since new although it has only done 65000. would like to know which coolant to get, Is there a pink and a red long life ?

Coolant change is first due at 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first. So yours is due despite being under 100,000 miles. Need Toyota Super Long Life - pink - coolant. Subsequent coolant changes will be required at shorter intervals - see the service and warranty book.

Alternatively, syphon some out into a container (I use a yoghourt pot) and put it in your feezer overnight. That's -20c. If it's still liquid in the morning, I don't bother changing it.

That’s not a very good advice for a long term ownership, coolant has not only antifreeze but lubricant properties too and with the time and cycles of heating and cooling may loose some of these property and lead to water pump failure and or rust accumulation, repairs more expensive than just regular service. I would not skip on that and won’t recommend to anyone doing it. Otherwise you are correct, if ain’t freezing no immediate danger to the engine. 👍

heat up the engine so the thermostat is OPEN ( heather on COLD)

There's a crane on the undersite of the radiator ( normaly white) open it with the radiatorcap of ( put a big cloth over the radiatorcap before opening when HOT else you get burned) than take the hose of at the underside of the radiator so the coolant can drain in a bucket.

Normaly i start the car when theres no coolant coming out of the hose for a few seconds, than close everything radiator crane, hose  and fill up the radiator. Then let the motor run with out the radiatorcap on the radiator so air can bubble out.

Fille the overflowbottle to the MAX and than the day afther check your overflowbottle and fill this to the MAX with cold motor.
