Can I swap 2008 D4D Avensis TR engine with newer Toyota D4D

My 2008 Avensis TR has been suffering engine oil loss recently. I have been advised to investigate swapping engine out to be replaced by a later Toyota D4D engine.  What engine years can be used to fit to 2008 Avensis D4D
