Morning All,

Has anulybody else woken up to frozen doors on their Aygo's?

For me its bothe driver and passenger.

If I pull any harder the handles will surely snap off!

I for one on my street cleaned off all the snow on my car last night, paying especial attention to around the doors and wiper mechanisms for this particular reason, but they still froze shut.

Any prevention methods guys?

Drive safe all!

Sammy

yes, usually just give them a good tug. I had the boot button frozen once or twice as well. Only way to prevent it is to put a full cover over the car, or put it in a garage.

They froze at the seals, I usually go around all rubber seals with silicone spray or vaseline on cloth before the winter October and have no problems after that. Best way to spray something with alcohol or other non freezing agent into them through the gaps. If you have Winter screen wash concentrate just put into spray bottle and give it a try, pulling the doors with too much force can damage the rubber seals, and they are not cheap.
Good luck.

Exactly what I needed!

I just bought some silicone spray recently, I assume this might be a messy option, or is it white grease im thinking of!

I think ill try the vaseline option tomorrow morning. See how that goes down.

Both my drivers and passenger seals have tears in them in places...and for that reason I haven't replaced them! Too darn expensive!!

Try pushing on the doors to break any ice between the seals and the door.

Silicone wd-40 or similar that is good for the rubber, spray onto cloth and apply all over the seals, if you spray directly, yes will be messy and you may miss some parts. 🙂👍

You can buy small containers of silicone grease on eBay. Its good practice to rub into all rubber seals as does seem to re-invigorate them a bit and I guess will stop the freezing up. Not sure WD40 is good for rubber seals?

Wd-40 red cap is even dangerous to use on rubber and will make it swelling and deteriorate . Wd-40 specialist silicone spray is specifically made for use on rubber and plastic parts and it is a good stuff, I use it a lot on brakes, seals, door locks, brake cables on e scooters etc.
This one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303512750520

wd-40 has a series of different lubricants and I have a lot of them, they are helpful for cars and around the house. 👍

Agree, use silicone spray, I discovered it late in my motoring life, but when one my leccy windows stuck years ago it sorted it, cheap fix that one!, so now  all our cars have migrated to leccy rather than keep-fit windows, do them and other rubber parts/seals couple times a year.
