Alarm problems

I have an 03 rav 4. When I stop the vehicle and take the key out of the ignition the alarm sounds but no hazards flashing. To stop the alarm I put the key back in the ignition and turn it so the ignition is on and then a beeping sound from the engine bay approximately 15 times. 

Any ideas folks?

Is there a bonnet closed switch?  If so, I would check that (corrosion?).
