My 2017 Yaris only 16000 miles on the clock. My revs are going up and down to the extent the engine is nearly cutting out. Has anyone had the same issue. Thanks in advance

It was owned by an old gentleman. I’m only guessing as he only did 13000 miles in 3 years + was never driven many long distances. I’m wandering if the car may have some muck!! going around engine??

Try resetting the ECU by disconnecting the Battery for a few minutes. Do it on a cold engine and when you restart allow the engine to idle for 3 or 4 minutes before driving. Take it straight out for a decent run of mixed high and low speed running. When the engine is fully hot do not be afraid to take it right to the rev limiter if you can under hard acceleration (for a few moments).

If it still misbehaves after this then you have some issue somewhere.

i would get the Battery and alternator checked, does the idle change when in neutral or just in gear ?

Did this start happening after filling up with fuel ??
