As far as I'm aware they are not made yet for the aftermarket. We sell a lot, I can do them mail order for you at a discount, you probably know the cost already

Is it the arm or the bush that needs replacing? The dealer will sell you the full arm and it’ll cost you an arm and a leg, aftermarket will supply the bushes and any remotely competent garage can press them out for a fraction of the cost.

My vehicle had bush failure and rectified by replacing arms under warranty. Concerned by this short life I contacted Toyota Uk and they replied thus:

"Received reply from Samantha Betts (Specialist Case Manager) saying that there has been a specification change in the bushes since my car was produced and they do not expect this issue to recur on my vehicle".

Any chance they may consider a Goodwill Claim for you? Although in my experience they don't seem to familiar with the term goodwill. But possibly worth enquiring especially if your model has the same arms as mine.

LMM 🙂

I've had exactly the same issue. 25,000 miles from new, 2014 Rav 4; vehicle has been well looked after, and yet rear trailing arm bushes have de-bonded. Contacted Toyota and they are not willing to help out with cost of repair. £540.

It’s frustrating that Toyota seemingly ‘improved’ either the design/manufacturing and anecdotal evidence suggests that they are known to fail earlier than is reasonably expected, but they still want to charge you for the full control arm and bushes rather than just supply the bush kit despite the ease of pressing them in. Thankfully the after-market does.

I have a 2014 RAV 4 2.0 D on which on  both sides the rear trailing arm bushes have de-bonded. I am receiving conflicting advice about feasibility of replacing the bushes! Has anyone successfully replaced just the bushes? Does anyone know the make and part number?

Hi, I had this bush replaced on my 2015 Rav 4 yesterday, 1 hour labour. the bush cost was £34 for 2 on E-Bay . Main dealer quoted £276+VAT. just for the part. Its a rip-off.

Given they outright refused to supply the bushes by themselves historically and the bill was four figures, that believe it or not is progress.

Total rip off from the main dealer - after I bought the car 'both' of my trailing arms were bad (identified during the service ) , a year later one was bad (the other had obviously healed itself !!) . The car passes the mot OK. I was quoted a stupid amount of money for a dealer replacement - even had the front to tell me that the arm had to be replaced as you couldn't push a bearing in - despite the internet being awash with these bearings.

I eventually imported 2 from Japan at a fraction of the UK dealer price - easy to swap.
