Erratic automatic transmission gear change after Front CV axle change

2010 Corolla, South African assembled model: Replaced forward cv axle shafts. Ended up with erratic automatic transmission gear change in Drive. Change from 1 to 2 - slightly rough, 2-3 awful with skip and engine revving to 5000rpm before change. Transmission oil is satisfactory and right level. Why would just changing a mechanical component result in this awful situation

Hi, why needed to change the cv axle and have you changed with original one or aftermarket?

Sounds like the car is struggling, so it revs up to higher RPM before switching.

jack up the car, and try to spin the wheel by hand, see if it moves without resistance.

I did that and it moves with zero resistance

Did you get the correct drive shaft(s) for the car ? Does the car have abs ? i would check the data from the wheel speed sensors with a scan tool as the TCM uses the wheel speed and rpm to know when to shift

It's more than likely a bad abs ring on a wheel bearing
