Toyotas Using Lots Of Oil ?

I am thinking of  buying a 2006  corrola  1.4 .any advice on oil consumption

Split away from 15 year old topic. As far as I'm aware the oil consumption issue was fixed from July 2005.

We still have a 2003 1.4L Corolla 4 door and it burns no detectable amount year in year out. Terrific engine, it pulls like a train with super smooth and consistent power delivery. I think it was one of the last of the pre 'drive by wire' and so it has instant throttle response, so much better in that regard than the 1.33L which replaced it.
