1.3 Timing chain marks.

Just trying to confirm I've got this chain on correctly.

The old chain either had no marks or the links were too dirty to see.

All the guides I have looked at show 1 dot on the bottom pulley.

I have 2 dots and 3 gold links on the bottom sprockets so I've assumed to centralise the dots is the way to go.

Does anyone have any help / input on this as I would like to make sure its correct before I put it back together.

Top gold links line up with the marks on the sprockets.

Yes I believe it is the 2sz-fe.

I would be extremely grateful if you could look it up.

Thank you.

i could not find the reference.........................

But i found a YouTube vid, 11.30 mark

Bar the engine over a few times - before you put the cover back on, clean out the vvti oil way on  both the engine and cover (12:44 in the vid) and clean the vvti solenoid (top rear) as they are well known for giving timing issues (the oil way gets gunged up what can cause vvti problems)

Excellent.

Thank you for that. I've looked for hours.

So I think I'm right looking at that.

Obviously full tension won't be present until oil pressure comes up but looks good so far.

The old chain had stretched so much it was rubbing on the inside of the cam cover and worn a small groove in the crank sensor!

Yes, full kit done.

Is it worth getting the genuine toyota oil filter or are there any of the aftermarket ones that meet the spec?

For a car of its age it's not that big of a deal, personally i tend to use Mahle or oem
