Hi I have a 2006 Toyota Argo 1lt. In 4th and 5th gear rattling quite a strong rattle and idea what it is ? The car has full service history and has 75,000 miles on the clock.

Bearing and/or synchro, the lack of oil kills these gearboxes, rebuild or replace while you're at it do the clutch

Car been into the garage, turns out passenger front tyre has a massive bulge in it. So just a new tyre needed. Thanks anyway.

Interesting read, how does what was assumed to be a gearbox issue turn out to be a tyre issue but cause a rattle in 4th and 5th gear?

Higher road speed in 4th and 5th gear causing more vibration because of the bulge in the tyre, and hence rattle.
