Good evening,

I recently purchased my 2015 rav4 and love the car !

However having know driven it on longer journeys the seat bolsters on the front seats i really find uncomfortable and painful.

I was going to either buy leather covers or a set of leather rav4 seats but this wont cure my problem.

So in a nutshell has anybody fitted front seats out of another suv or car that will just bolt in without any major welding and fiddling ?

My old car was a mondeo seats where very comfy clearly my rav4 is probablytelling me to lose weight 😲

Anyway any help suggestions greatly appreciated thanks 👍

Avoid leather seats they turn hot under sun,  they eventually crack and you can't really repair them unlike a hole in a cloth seat that you can sew,

One issue with fitting seats from another manufacturer may be that the safety restraint systems may not be compatible - eg seat mounted airbags. Also as the seats will be permanently installed and will be a change from standard spec, for insurance purposes, they will count as a modification - which may mean an increased premium or cover being refused.

I think Geno74 has already dismissed leather seats, but I just want to defend them. I have leather seats in my Prius Excel which I have owned for 3 summers, hot summers. I find them bearable in hot weather. For sure I will not sit on them without a shirt, but I wouldn’t do that on cloth seats either. Older leather seats I have seen cracked, probably due to lack of care during its life. Leather needs care and kits to do that are not expensive but essential. As for repair, there are now more leather repair specialist around then ever before, mainly die to popularity of leather lounge suites, so repair should not be a problem. I’d do think leather will be tougher then fabrics seats though.

I had a 2013 Icon - so essentially the same model - and while I didn't find the seats 'bad' they lack adjustable lumbar support and didn't perfectly support my spine. The net effect is that it isn't so easy to find the 'perfect' seating position. Does this tally with your findings? Or is your issue something else?

Anyway, the [leather] seats in the Invincible include electrically adjustable lumber support and I rather suspect that they would be a lot more comfortable. The added benefit would be that they would fit!

I've no idea whether this would help but it's a thought ...

Can confirm invincible has significantly more adjustment, but if it’s the booster, then that won’t help. I haven’t seen leather seats crack in along time, my 05 RAV is still perfect after 135K and 16 years.

Comfort is subjective, for example I hated my old F650GS for the first 2-3 weeks and very nearly re-sculpted it/recovered it. After 3 weeks I got used to it and after that could ride all day. Similar story with a new mattress, sofa, office chair etc. If not, then replacing the seat will make you uninsurable for some underwriters and likely cost you a chunk of cash each year with others - you’re significantly altering the risk as your seat set-up hasn’t been tested/certified and insurers are risk averse. A re-sculpt/trim may work out cheaper.
