Twice this morning our domestic power supply had intermittent breakdowns (across the district) Each time my security warning sound went off in the car outside., a Toyota Auris hybrid. Anyone had the same experience? No problem in or outside the car.

Never heard of anything like that happening before. Are you parked near or next to any kind of substation or pole mounted transformer or parked directly on top of a buried high voltage cable?

The only thing I can think of is some kind of EMP (electromagnetic pulse) that could be generated when a very large initial surge current might flow in such installations when power is restored although how that could effect the car as you describe isn't very obvious as the effects would diminish rapidly with distance.
