Yaris Cross - delivery, etc .......

I asked a dealer for lead times on this car and was told 2-8 weeks ?

I suppose it depends on the model they are building and which components are available. I ordered mine on August 31st and was verbally told November, though the order form showed November 30th. Dealer phoned me today and said now December, though no date given, and with the French Xmas holiday period, I'm not anticipating delivery until possibly early New Year. I guess dealers are always going to quote delivery times somewhat optimistically rather than see a customer go elsewhere, though other manufacturers delivery dates are often worse than Toyota. Little wonder that those car buyers not prepared to wait are looking around for 'Nearly-New' cars, hence the rise in used car prices, hopefully it'll be worth the wait in the end.

When I ordered mine on 15th August I asked what the lead times were and was told delivery will be September.

Then I added all the extras and it magically became December😂🤣

The 'Extra's' that most dealers including mine seem keenest on selling these days are the add-ons like Toyota's own GAP Insurance, Paintwork treatments and now the latest is 'Smart Cover', a sort of dent insurance! I'm driving a car, not a 'dodgem'!

The paint treatment is £295, Gap insurance £419, and 'Smart Cover' £449, which adds up to a sizeable £1163. Don't know about you guys, but I can get Gap insurance considerably cheaper than that, just bought a 'Dealer pack' of the "Diamondbrite" paint, leather/upholstery and alloy wheel protector for just over £50, and I'll pass on the 'dent insurance'. Half a days work to apply the "Diamondbrite" kit, a few minutes on the internet to organise Gap insurance, and I'll save the best part of a grand! Even the "Adventure pack" of a set of mudflaps and car mats at £110 is overpriced, and body kits and the like I can do without, so my car will come 'as-is'. I'm not 'tightfisted', but these are the kind of extra's I can live without, as the "Premiere" comes with enough kit to satisfy me. 

      A few years ago, my Son was Business Manager for a Ferrari/Maserati dealership, and made a lot of money for himself and the dealership by upselling these 'add-ons' to customers, as the mark-up on these 'insurance based' items is considerable. I accept that dealerships need to make money to stay in business, but these products are (to me at least) 'Extracting the urine'!

Hey Keith,

You do realise that Diamond brite is just a glorified polish nothing more and nothing less it has no ceramic protection at all you were better off getting Toyota Protect as that is a ceramic coating and it also protects the interior.

I myself am not getting it ffrom a dealer so to speak, asked my local dealer if they would be willing to do the Toyota Protect but as not bought from them I will get it done at a detailers I've used before.

From what I've read, "Diamondbrite" has Ceramic and silicone constituents, which is why I opted for it, but thanks for the info, and I'll check it out. If that is the case I may well go down the same route as yourself and get a local detailing specialist to do it with a ceramic treatment instead. The kit won't go to waste if I don't use it, as I can give the Wife's car a going over, which will give me a few 'Brownie points!'🤣

Am a bit annoyed as mine is ordered on the Toyota system just not from a dealer so have to ring them up for an update.

Well the app is no better. Been showing car as processing for last 52 days.

Trouble is you end up checking the app every couple of hours to see if there's an update. I just can't stop looking😂🤣

One in my dealers, it is sort of metallic green, almost the shade of an aircraft primer. It is HUGE.  

I haven't checked Yaris specs but this, like others I have seen, didn't have the parking sensors which I consider a must have. 

PS, I liked the Yaris steering wheel controls.  Superior to the Corolla.  I was disappointed to note the new Corolla still has the less profiled switches.

Quite, they had one of those in too.  That was B***** HUGE. 

Curiously the Corolla, like our last two Mercedes E Class, all seem minute in a car park, even the new Minis standing taller.  We often have difficulty finding it 😉

I think I was just luck as I’ve ordered a design in white which is standard colour. The dealer said if I was ordering now it would be next March 🙈 hope you all hear something soon 😊

 Well white makes sense as an instagram post a few days ago show the first Yaris Cross Hybrids leaving the factory and they were all white

I will do, pick it up on 27th as I’m on holiday week before. Any news on yours ?
