Where to find spare parts

I have recently bought a 2008 awd hybrid estima imported from Japan. When I took it to the mechanic for Rego, he said that if he was in my shoes he would return the car to the dealer because it is so difficult to find spare parts for such cars. I really love the car and it drives so well. Have you guys  have encountered this problem and what solutions are available? My mechanic deals mainly with Repco.

Thank you.

Standard Toyota parts. Only body panels are harder to purchase.

Perhaps get another mechanic?

Wiki says it's known as the Previa in a lot of other countries so worth searching on that too.

Parts should be cross compatible, so for instance an oil filter for your engine will be listed against all the Toyotas that use that engine so you can search for a more common model too.  Your engine is in the Alphard, Camry and Lexus HS.

As Paul says, parts aren't that difficult...the Estima is an increasingly well known vehicle, though I don't know which country you are in.?

As Paul suggests, it might be time to find another garage/mechanic.!

The OP is in Australia - where the Estima/Previa is also known as the Tarago.

In which case I would emphasise my second point!
