Changing Anti Roll Bar Bushings (Front) on E120

Hi everybody,

Need to change the ARB Front Bushings on my E120. Seems like the previous platforms

of the E90 and future one E140/150 etc. have somewhat easier access, although more bolts

to remove etc. Would I be right in saying that to do the job on the E120 you have to come

through the subframe to get at the second bolt ? I think the first bolt is accessible through

the wheel arch etc ? Any thoughts, ideas or experience of doing this job ? Thanks a million

Joe.

Hi,

Yes you can get to the front bolt from under the wheel arch, for the rear ones you need to jack up the front of the car, with supports etc and you can slide under and get to them from the rear side.

Cannot remember exactly which spanners we used, but due to the  limited space to get a spanner in and turn things, a ratchet spanner or socket and ratchet wrench makes it easier, as does a bit of penetrating oil the night before.

Perfect thank you kindly puts my mind at rest to get on with it knowing there is no easier way that I had overlooked.

I picked up a little 3/8 ratchet which is only about a 4 inch and its a bit of a cheapo so might not have the grunt but

ill try it. Waiting for bushes and drop links to arrive. Thank you for your reply once again, it's very helpful indeed.
